The Dachstein
So close to heaven
First of all, the facts: The Dachstein is the main peak of the Dachstein massif. At 2995 m, the Hohe Dachstein is the highest peak in the Dachstein Mountains and at the same time the highest peak in the Austrian federal states of Upper Austria and Styria. That alone would be reason enough to climb the Dachstein. It is breathtaking, impressive and unique in any case.
But the Dachstein glacier world offers much more: Ice Palace, Skywalk, panoramic gondola are just a few of the special features that make up this large mystical world of ice and snow. There’s also waiting at the Dachstein 14 via ferratas, well-equipped climbing tours, marked glacier paths and countless hiking routes. Summiteers have it good here.
One thing is always a pleasure here - whether in summer or winter: the view. The natural scenery that lies at your feet is and remains unique. And the best thing at last: from the ARX Hotel you always have a view of the Dachstein!
If you don't mind heights and have nerves like steel, you'll be rewarded with dream views on the Skywalk or on the via ferratas.
All information about the Dachstein
The journey from ARX to the Dachstein mountain railway takes only about 30 minutes by car. But you can also use the public bus line. We definitely recommend one Gondola reservation.
Our tip: With the Sommercard Schladming-Dachstein You even get a free ride up and down the Dachstein (automatically included if you stay at least 2 consecutive nights). The ascent on the day of arrival is possible from 1 p.m.
